In zahlrei­ chen archaischen kosmologischen Mythen geht das Universum aus einem Urgott hervor, der zerrissen wird, einem MärtyrerGott, der sich im Akt der Schöpfung selbst aufopfert. Diese göttliche Selbstopferung erklärt den Ursprung des Kosmos, aber um den Preis der Unwandelbarkeit des Schöpfers. Der Kosmos wird zum cruor Dei, zu Gottes Blut, einem Ergebnis seines unendlichen, selbst auferlegten Leidens.

Die Schöpfung und somit das Heraustreten des Mannigfaltigen aus dem Einen ist onto­ logisch notwendig, und das Eine ist, da es einfach ist, in einem gewissen Sinne alles (nicht unähnlich dem christlichen Gott) (91 bis), beziehungsweise macht es jedes geschaffene Sein zum Ein-allen (35). Ist der letztere eine unzusammenhängende und un­ verdauliche Anhäufung von leeren Abstraktionen, von denen kein Weg zu den gewöhnlichen, allgemein empfundenen Sor­ gen der Menschen führt?
